#53 & #54 – Drumheller!

Over the May long weekend I was able to cross two more goals off my list:

#53: Take a photo out of the mouth of the world’s largest dinosaur
#54: Go to Drumheller and visit the Royal Tyrrell Museum

Since my BF and I are huge dorks who like dinosaurs and other nerdy stuff, and neither of us had been to the Tyrrell museum in years, and we didn’t want to go camping over the long weekend due to the threat of snow (and because I’m not much of a camper!), it seemed like the perfect time for a roadtrip! We woke up reasonably early, grabbed breakfast from Timmy’s, and hit the road :)

Once we arrived at the museum we discovered that maybe the timing wasn’t exactly perfect – it was a long weekend, the 25th anniversary of the museum, and a new exhibit had just opened – but oh well! It was busy but still really interesting and fun! I had not been there since it was renovated and so it seemed all very new and exciting… I took loads of photos! Such a tourist even just an hour and a half outside of the city LOL.

After the museum, we stopped at the World’s Largest Dinosaur and paid $3 to climb it! This was totally the highlight of my day and the main reason I wanted to take this trip haha. It was a pretty windy day so once we were inside the head of the T-Rex you could actually feel it sway back and forth… didn’t feel especially safe! But we took multiple photos out of the mouth and got a kid to take our picture together as well!

We also stopped for dinner at the local BPs before heading back to Calgary. After a discussion that lasted pretty much all day as to how to properly pronounce Drumheller (Julian was making fun of me for emphasizing drum instead of hell) we decided the best way to settle the argument would be to ask our server who was from there… drum roll please… guess who was right? :) LOL. So for future reference, if you want to take a similar trip, you will be going to DRUM-hell-er haha.

If you ever go again you have to stop for lunch at "Bernie and the Boys" local highlight. (My grandparents live in Drumheller so we go there often)
